Kitchen Measurement Guide

Samsung Kitchen Package

When designing a kitchen or purchasing new appliances for an existing kitchen, it is critical to understand appliance sizes to ensure that appliances and cabinets will work together cohesively, compliment each other and make sure that appliances fit in between cabinet runs, walls, and doorways.

Key Questions Include:

  • Do I have enough room between cabinet runs for the width of my refrigerator and/or freestanding range?
  • Do I have exactly enough room between cabinets for my slide-in range?
  • If I have appliances across from an island or in a galley style kitchen, do I have enough room for appliance door swing?
  • Does my appliance have offset hinges that allows the door to swing completely clear of the door opening?
  • Do I need to move my island to allow for more room?
  • If I do not buy a counter-depth refrigerator, will my standard refrigerator protrude too far into a doorway or walkway?

The Path Into Your House

One of the most common reasons for returning an appliance or furniture is due to the inaccuracy of measuring the entire space within the home. Be sure to measure more than just the space where your new appliance will reside. Remember to measure the entire path on the way to your appliances’s desired location.

Doorways

  • Start with the entryway door, including the trim of the door jam and continue to measure all other doors/room entrances.

Hallways

  • Start with the entryway door, including the trim of the door jam and continue to measure all other doors/room entrances.

Corners

  • For larger appliances, it is important to measure the distance between all corners and their nearest boundaries.

Tight Spaces

  • Measure the space between where the appliance will reside and any secondary boundary or structure, such as a kitchen island or cabinet, to ensure there is enough clearance for opening doors of your appliance.

You simply need the correct range cord for your outlet. Your Product Specialist will be able to help you select the correct range cord.

4-PRONG - In the mid 1990’s, many states adopted stronger safety requirements for kitchen range outlets, requiring a 4 prong, grounded outlet. Be sure you purchased the correct range cord.
